Happy 100th Birthday Vincent Price

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

I usually leave things like this to the true professionals here at HM.ca but I couldn’t resist as Vincent Price is one of my true hero’s he inspired me, scared me and took me away to fictional worlds and introduced me to some of the scariest monsters ever created.

A true legend of his craft who was born way back on May 27th 1911, he left a catalogue of inspiring films behind which are still watched and loved by many genre fans and none genre fans alike. I remember the very first time I witnessed House on Haunted Hill, it scared the heck out of me, but there was this sense of adrenaline and that voice, he just enticed us with a presence not matched by anyone since.

He was a true actor, one who could act, he could change your emotions in a second, only a true master can do that and Vincent is the master. So here I am celebrating the legends 100th birthday who has starred in over 80 feature films and many TV shows and commercials throughout his career.

Vincent Price did an outstanding performance in The Pit and the Pendulum where his beloved wife had died. he becomes distraught and goes into a state of madness, no longer in control of his sanity and descends into the dungeons where a torture chamber lies and we are treated to perhaps one of the scariest climax’s in movie history. It’s that good.

Vincent Price has done it all from playing mad scientists to vampires to high brow villains and everything in-between and delivered every single time. How about such classics as The Fly, House of Wax, The Invisible Man Returns and Dr. Phibes Rides Again just to name a few.

He was part of this elite group along with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, all true masters and all a pleasure to watch. I salute you Vincent Price, unfortunately he was taken from us too soon but he will never be forgotten. Happy 100th birthday sir, I’ll hopefully be having a Vincent Price marathon this weekend to salute a true legend and remember his illustrious life.

I’m sure Vincent Price hold’s many special memory’s with you guys, please share them and join me in celebrating Vincent Price’s 100th birthday.

First Look: Peter Vincent In Fright Night Remake

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

If you was wondering what the new Peter Vincent character looked like, in the upcoming Fright Night remake, well wonder no more as below are the first images of his character played by David Tennant Britain’s Dr. Who fame, I tell you he is hardly recognizable.

In the original 1985 classic by Tom Holland the Peter Vincent character was played by Roddy McDowall and he was the host of a late night horror show aptly named ‘Fright Night’ in the remake or re imagining (how they like to call it) Peter Vincent is a magician in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock hotel & casino also named ‘Fright Night’ I guess being a host for a horror show isn’t what the kids want these days?

The original 1985 classic I hold dear to my heart just like the original Nightmare On Elm Street and have someone remake it and shake it up is a bit hard to swallow, but will I be checking it out when it’s released? Of course. It doesn’t mean I have to like it though.

The Fright Night remake is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars David Tennant, Colin Farrell, Imogen Poots, Anton Yelchin, Toni Collette, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Fright Night is scheduled for release in theatres October 7, 2011.
