Michael Bay to Remake Twilight Zone?

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

Yeah you read that right. Michael Bay is one of a select group that Warner Brothers is considering to do a new Twilight Zone movie. Just today I watched Transformers 3 and after finishing it I wondered what Michael Bay might do next and I can assure you that remaking The Twilight Zone wasnt on the list.

Michael Bay is not alone though as Warner Brothers has other names in contention including Christopher Nolan who of course is famous now for Batman, Rupert Wyatt who recently did the prequel to Planet of the Apes which I highly enjoyed, Alfonso Cuaron who directed one of the best modern scifi films Children of Men and David Yates who directed a small film series about some kid named Harry Potter.

I am not a Michael Bay hater like most I think he is incredibly talented at doing splashy and over the top action flicks that are low on substance and high on intensity. Do I think he could pull off a Twilight Zone reboot? Most likely he could. Would it be something horror fans would love? Probably not. More likely it would be an action flick with lots of things blowing up, some punk actor throwing out quirky one liners and some unknown victoria’s secret model co-starring.

From the Director of Twilight: Red Riding Hood Trailer

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

I knew it, from the moment that news broke that Catherine Hardwicke was helming a new adaptation of Red Riding Hood; I knew that the trailer folks would be completely daft if they didn’t have From The Director of Twilight emblazoned somewhere in the trailer.  The strength of that alone will probably give the film some business.

Apple has a look at the trailer and it’s what I expected from Hardwicke; a fairly young cast and highly stylish camera work.  I didn’t like Twilight; but even in that film Hardwicke has talent with the camera.  No sign of the wolf in the trailer spare for an almost pure black flash at the very end of the trailer.

Plot:  Valerie is a beautiful young woman in love with an outsider named Peter.  However her family desires her to marry the wealthy Henry.  So they do not lose each other, Peter and Valerie plot to run away together, however before they do Valerie’s sister is killed by the werewolf.  The village has lived with an uneasy peace with the creature, giving it animal sacrifices but now the beast seems to be craving human flesh.  The village calls in famed werewolf hunter Father Solomon to slay the beast, who states that the creature could be anyone in the village.  As the death toll mounts, Valerie suspects the creature could be a someone she loves and that she shares a bond with the creature which makes her a suspect…and bait.

Red Riding Hood arrives in theaters on March 11, 2011.

Man Dies From Watching Twilight

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

I’m not a fan of Twilight so if you really dig the series I hope you have a really good sense of humor because from here on out I will be thoroughly poking fun at the glitter vampires. In New Zealand a man went into a screening of Twilight: Eclipse last Sunday for a 6pm showing. Little did he know he would not leave the theater.

Cinema staff discovered him slumped over in his chair with no apparent injuries. His death is essentially a mystery. But is it really that mysterious. He was going to see Twilight which I think any 23 year old man that went to go see the movie on his own would seem to be reason enough. I kid! I kid! But seriously.. Twilight will kill you.
