I am still waiting very anxiously and patiently for Andre Ovredal’s The Troll Hunter to hit the UK. While it’s currently circling around the U.S. it has pretty much been getting good reviews and many people here seem to have really enjoyed it.

So, what happens when you take Andre Ovredal’s effects artist, Rune Spaans, who just happens to be a huge Star Wars fan and you mix all that up with The Troll Hunter effects? Well, thanks to Twitch for hunting this one down, you can check exactly what you get in the video below, enjoy.

Troll Hunter Remake and Possible Sequel

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

Andre Ovredal’s mockumentary The Troll Hunter is one film I just have to see, I’ve mentioned it many times and it doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen that trailer, it still looks freaking awesome!

Anyway we reported last year that Universal had brought the rights to remake The Troll Hunter but in fact it seems that may not be the case.

Recently Andre Ovredal spoke to the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting about the rumoured remake;

“Actually, we’re not really talking with Universal about that… now there is another production company here… I hope we’re signing the contracts very soon.”

Andre Ovredal goes on to talk about the possibility of a sequel;

“Eventually…[there's] high demand in Norway for a sequel, actually. People are sending me personal Facebook messages every week saying, ‘Where is the sequel? Come on, get it out!’

To read the rest of the interview head on over to Bloody-Disgusting. Be sure to check out The Troll Hunter when it hits VOD on May 6th and then in theatres on May 10th.

7/10

90 minutes

Cast:

Otto Jespersen,

Overall:

More of a fantasy-comedy, Troll Hunter proved to be a fun and intriguing ride from start to finish; offering an original premise and some great CG and creative look for these large creatures. Fans of the "found footage" and mockumentary sub-genres should get a kick outta this, but don't go in expecting a horror flick. Recommended.

While other countries are busy putting ghosts in front of the camera for the "found footage" or mockumentery sub-genres, Norway decided to pursue a different approach and tackled the country’s Troll folklore by proposing the question: What if Trolls exited in today’s modern society and are merely kept secret by the Norwegian government? Thus, we have Troll Hunter, a surprisingly well made mock-doc that delivers some top-notch FX and an intriguing premise.

The story follows a few ambitious young university students working on a documentary about a mysterious rogue bear poacher that they believe is behind series of deaths of the local bear populace. After several interviews with some government sanctioned hunters and people around town, they eventually narrow down the whereabouts of the poacher and after numerous failed attempts at an interview with the man, they decide to follow him into the woods one night, hoping to catch him in the act. Instead, they end up running for their lives from something.. big.
