The Walking Dead Video Game Trailer

Saturday, March 24th, 2012

The Walking Dead GameThe second season of The Walking Dead has come to an end which has left most of us asking what will we do while we wait for The Walking Dead Season 3? Well perhaps some of us might find ourselves playing  the new game from Tell Tale Games.

Created by animator and director Daniel M. Kanemoto, the trailer blends 2D and 3D imagery in stunning fashion as homage to the art of the original comic book world on which Telltale’s game is based.

The first of five monthly episodes of The Walking Dead is set for release in late April on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360® for 400 Microsoft® Points, on PlayStation®Network for .99 and on PC and Mac as a season pass for .99 from the Telltale Online Store and other digital outlets. Information on additional formats will follow.

Telltale has also revealed details of a limited time pre-order offer available via their online store. Pre-order customers will get the chance to join the cast of the game in episode four, where they will be modeled as a human survivor before being killed and then returned to life as a ravenous zombie. Pre-ordering also qualifies customers for a 10% discount (get the 5 episode season for .49; normally .99).

“This trailer really shows off how our artists have managed to take the 2D art style of the comic books and create a 3D world allowing fans to truly interact with Robert Kirkman’s world for the very first time,” said Dan Connors, Telltale co-founder and CEO. “We hope that fans will like what they see and be excited by the chance to join the cast of the game; we promise they’ll die horribly!”

“Telltale has done a phenomenal job in making a game that meets the expectations of fans,” added Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead.  “Running around with a gun isn’t what The Walking Dead is about; it’s about is how people caught in an apocalypse deal with facing their own death every day, and the horrible choices they have to make to survive. Telltale’s game series has captured the spirit of the comic books perfectly.”

The Walking Dead is set in the world of Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic book series. Lee Everett, a convicted criminal, has been given a chance for redemption in a world devastated by the undead. Players will experience events, meet people and visit locations that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes. The Walking Dead offers a tailored game experience – player actions, choices and decisions affect how the story plays out across the entire series.

Poster & Trailer For Horror Short House Call

Monday, March 19th, 2012

As horror shorts go, this was actually a fairly gripping tale of lust and revenge and I believe that when this one is finally released on its festival run it will be a top draw. Erik L. Wilson has created a pretty stellar supernatural short with some top FX work on display.

The short comes in at around the 15 minute mark and during that time we are quickly catapulted straight into the action, which is well shot and actually believable. Janice (Aimee Bello) is a victim of domestic abuse and soon she looks for solace in someone else, but first she needs to take care of some unfinished business.

The short plays out with an interesting story and one which kept me engaged throughout. One downside is the small CGI in play, it doesn’t look good when compared to the practical effects on display. My word of advice is, if it doesn’t look right, don’t use it.

In any event, this was a breath of fresh air in the sudden spate of horror remakes and the likes, Wilson managed to create an eerie setting and the cast managed to provide some top not acting to support the story. I was on the edge of my seat nearing the end waiting to see the outcome and it didn’t disappoint, well except I would have liked for a more eerie and crazier old woman. But I like freaky old people.

Here we have your first look as we have scored the poster and the first trailer for the short. House Call is said to be hitting the festival circuit soon, so if you get the chance, hunt this one down.

The short stars  Aimee Bello, Michael Jordan, Janet Gawrys and Brad Egger.

Synopsis: “Janice does the unthinkable in order to start a new life with her new boyfriend. However, strange things begin to happen on the night of their one year anniversary.”

Official Trailer For Christopher R. Mihm’s House of Ghosts

Friday, March 16th, 2012

One word, awesome. I think Christopher R. Mihm has struck gold again with his latest fright fest House of Ghosts. If you miss the scares of yesteryear b-movies, and the pure awesomeness of William Castle’s flicks, then this one looks like its right up your alley, just be careful as this one promises to frighten you to death!

I absolutely love b-movies and House of Ghosts is everything I want in a film and more, anyway we have the official trailer and poster for the upcoming flick which hits this May 23rd.

The film stars Mike Cook, Justen Overlander, Michael Kaiser, Sid Korpi, Mark Scanlan, Stephanie Mihm, Mark Haider and Catherine Hansen.

Synopsis: “With “House of Ghosts,” his first supernatural thriller, writer/director Christopher R. Mihm pays tribute to the works of the master of classic horror, William Castle! Rich socialites Isaac and Leigh have a tradition of throwing exclusive dinner parties that include unique (and expensive) forms of entertainment. This time, they’ve booked a spiritual medium who promises to “open a portal to the great beyond” and allow the couple’s equally eccentric guests to contact the “afterworld.” But, before he begins his presentation, the occultist offers a warning: once the door has been opened, no human being can anticipate or control what might come through. Regardless, the group collectively agrees to go forward, only to find itself greatly disappointed by the results… at first. Trapped in the couple’s oversized house by a massive winter storm, the partygoers begin to experience unexplainable and increasingly frightening things. As these occurrences intensify, it becomes apparent that something evil is at work. Can the group survive the night or will ignoring the medium’s warning be the last thing they ever do?”

Make a Deal With The Devil in APE – Trailer Inside

Monday, March 5th, 2012

That pesky little devil is at it again, offering deals but never quite giving the punter exactly what they wanted. He is a tough old cookie, but there are plenty of people lining up to get there problems fixed and director Joel Potrykus is unleashing one of them who just happens to be a pyromaniac in APE.

Courtesy of Undead Brainspasm we have the full synopsis and two teaser trailer’s which you can view below. I for one am pretty impressed by what I have just seen so I’ll be keeping my eyes on this one.

At this time a release date hasn’t been confirmed but a DVD is said to hit around October time with even a very limited theatrical release some time this year too.

Synopsis: “Trevor Newandyke is a struggling small-time comedian. Not only does he bomb on stage, but he bombs in everyday life. To him, it’s the little things that matter most. He’s fed up with the threats from the cable company, 7-11 raising the price of the Slurpee, and all the jerks who think they can push him around. All he wants is a break, and for someone to get him. Not everyone, just someone.

But instead of taking a breath and getting himself together or taking his anger to the stage, he turns to the loud din of his headphones and the crackling glow of fire to ease his mind. He’s not only a lousy comic, but a pyromaniac, as well. After a typical night disappointing the crowd he finds that one of his jokes begins to come to life. A fruit salesman posing as the Devil strikes a bargain with Trevor. A golden apple for a joke.

He treasures the apple, seeing it as a sign or a magical object. But after some troubling news he tells the audience that it’s likely just an apple and meaningless. He decides to just eat it. It’s good, too. Makes Trevor feel something. The next day he finally reaches his boiling point during the clamor of his neighbors fighting.

But instead of hiding behind a match or homemade flame thrower, he instead turns to the baseball bat. He not only hits hard against those in his way, but he finds his voice on stage as well. He tells it like it is. No fluff. From here, Trevor lets go. He’s mad as hell and he’s not going to take it anymore. Of course, deals with the Devil don’t ever turn out well.”

Full Trailer For Mae Nak 3D

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

Here we go again, yet another wacky horror film from our friends over in Thailand, and yes, it is in 3D. I’m just not sure what’s worse, the fact that the film has a ton of dodgy CGI or the fact that it is in 3D. I want to like it, but I can’t. In any event, we have the full trailer and synopsis courtesy of 24 FPS, see what you make of it.

Synopsis: “If you don’t know the story then we can only surmise you’ve been living under a stone. For those rock dwellers here it is again: Nak, a heavily pregnant woman, dies with her stillborn child while her husband, Mak, is away at war. When Mak returns, he doesn’t know that his family is dead and continues to live with Nak unaware that she is actually a ghost.”

First Trailer For Abel Ferrara’s 4:44 Last Day on Earth

Friday, February 24th, 2012

Well this has my attention. Any film that has Abel Ferrara, Willem Dafoe and an apocalypse setting has me standing front and center waiting with sheer anticipation. As the world will apparently end this year, end of the world films are all the rage and Ferrara’s 4:44 Last Day on Earth has me interested.

While we don’t have a release date for IFC Films’ 4:44 Last Day on Earth we do have a trailer, check it out below.

The film stars Willem Dafoe, Shanyn Leigh, Paz de la Huerta, and Natasha Lyonne.

Synopsis: “With the planet on the verge of extinction, a New York couple (Dafoe and Leigh) cycle through moments of anxiety, ecstasy, and torpor. As they sink into the havens of sex and art, and Skype last goodbyes in a Lower East Side apartment filled with screens bearing tidings of doom and salvation, the film becomes one of Ferrara’s most potent and intimate expressions of spiritual crisis. An apocalyptic trance film, 4:44 LAST DAY ON EARTH is also a mournful valentine to Ferrara’s beloved New York: the director’s first fiction feature to be filmed entirely in the city in over a decade, and coming 10 years after the September 11 attacks, a haunting vision of doom in the lower Manhattan skyline.”
