Thursday, February 17th, 2011

This South Korean 2009 killer animal horror/comedy film hits North American DVD/Blu-ray shelve on April 26th via Magnolia Home Entertainment.  If you look at the cover art for the release, you will notice that the film distribution company has decided to add the letter "Z" to the end of the film title; CHAWZ.  CHAWZ….JAWS…I get it.  Really corny and stupid, but I get it.

No word on special features for this release at this time.  Please stay tuned for further developments!

Take a ‘Hike’! In This New British Thriller

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

From the UK comes Rupert Bryan’s The Hike a horror/thriller which follows a group of female friends who seek out a camping spot in the woods to spend their time together, soon darkness falls and one of the girls go missing. They must rely on each other to escape what terrors lie ahead.

The Hike is written & directed by Rupert Bryan and co-written by Ben Loyd Holmes, the film stars Tamar Hassan (Kick Ass), Barbara Nedeljakova (Hostel), Ben Loyd Holmes
(Torchwood), Shauna Macdonald (The Descent), Zara Phythian, Daniel
Caren, Jemma Bolt, Domonic Le Moignan, Stephanie Siadatan, Lisa Marie
Long, Adam Young and Joe Nuttal.

Synopsis: “Kate (Zara Phythian) is a soldier back from a tour in Afghanistan
on compassionate leave after seeing her soldier boyfriend die in combat.
Back amongst her best friends, they take the chance to get away and go
on a camping trip to a picturesque and remote area of the British
countryside. As the girls leave for their expedition, Kate’s friend,
Torri (Barbara Nedeljacova), breaks up with her aggressive boyfriend,
Dean (Tamer Hassan), leaving Kate to defend her from his violence.

Leaving all that behind, the girls make their way into the woods
in search of the perfect place to camp and enjoy their time together. As
they near Sunset Point, they come across a strange and evasive group of
Eastern Europeans that seem to be living off the land. It’s an awkward
situation, and Kate and her group quickly move on. As the girls reach
Sunset Point, they encounter three rock climbers, lead by Ethan (Ben
Loyd Holmes), and much to her annoyance Kate’s friends quickly become
friendly with the lads. As the two groups go their separate ways, Kate
is relieved to have the girls to herself, but as darkness falls and
Charlie (Jemma Bolt) goes missing, the girls begin to feel vulnerable
and will be forced to rely on each other and their newly formed
friendships with the climbers to find Charlie and get them out of the
woods to safety.”

‘Blood Was Everywhere’ In This Teasr Trailer

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

From Sun In 10 Productions comes Jason Torrey’s independent slasher Blood Was Everywhere which is said to be inspired by both the original Friday The 13th (1980) and Halloween (!978).

Blood Was Everywhere is written & directed by Jason Torrey and stars Paul Kratka (Friday The 13th Part 3), Larry Holden (Memento), Kevin Hayes (Along Came a Spider), Lena Morse, Ashley Arnold, John Westcott and many more.

Synopsis: “The nightmare of the unsolved, random murder is brought to life: A faceless killer wreaks havoc on the lives of average people in a small Massachusetts town.”

The synopsis doesn’t reveal much as to what is happening and I have to say the teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much either, I found it annoying that the official trailer had music played throughout, I just don’t think it helped matters but check it out below and see what you guys make out of it.

Check out their official Facebook Page for more information. They also have an Official Website but it is currently under construction.

The release date is yet to be announced.

HARPOON: REYKJAVIK WHALE WATCHING MASSACRE on DVD This December!

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010
harpoondvd.jpg

This 2009 Icelandic horror film will make its North American DVD/Blu-ray debut on December 7th via Image Entertainment.  Cover art for the release can be found on the right and enlarged for detailed viewing!  As the cover art indicates, Image has decided to leave out Icelandic’s capital, "Reykjavík", out of the title; more likely to eliminate the difficulty of pronounciation.   No official word on special features for the discs.  More to come in the following months!

Premise:

An epic tale about a group of whale watchers, whose ship breaks down and they get picked up by a whale fisher vessel. The Fishbillies on the vessel have just gone bust, and everything goes out of control.

Mold! Grows All Over This Trailer

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Mold! is nearly upon us Neil Meschino’s 80′s throwback looks awesome and is oozing with all things gross with puss inducing faces! The teaser trailer below gives us a little sample of things to come and what to expect when Mold! is unleashed on us all.

Synopsis: “Set in 1984, when the war on drugs was at its height, the story concerns a strain of mold developed by the government to wipe out Colombian coca fields. Unfortunately, during a demonstration the mold gets out of control and proves to be deadly to more than just vegetation.

Mold! is produced by Mentally Ill Films and written by Dave Fogerson and co-written by director Neil Meschino and stars Ardis Campbell, Robert Fattorini, Chris Gentile, Lawrence George and Rick Haymes.

Mold! is currently in post-production and is preparing to be unleashed on film festivals, a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet but I’m sure Mold! will be infecting home’s very soon.

This looks like it will be a really fun time and thanks to the awesome FX work of Jeremy Selenfriend and the use of just practical effects and not one bit of CG, has me shouting at the rooftops “Hallelujah!” now bring me the mold. You can check out the teaser trailer below:

3D Ghost Rider 2 Shooting This Fall

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Nicholas Cage talks Ghost Rider 2We have known for awhile now that Ghost Rider 2 was coming and that Nicolas Cage would star. Eva Mendez I believe at last report is not returning which is unfortunate but also probably a wise choice.

According to HotNews.ro Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance will shoot in Romania this fall. This is the second big American production to shoot in Romania ( last one was Cold mountain ). This is also the first 3D production to shoot in Romania.

Nicolas Cage revealed some time back that the 2nd film will be based after the first one but will be setup in such a fashion that its a stand alone film. It will not have any ties to the first one which makes sense since I am sure nobody is waiting with baited breath to see the story continue. What do you think about Ghost Rider 2? Excited? Blah? Tell us!
