Frankenstein’s Army Reveals Its Cast

Saturday, March 10th, 2012

Frankenstein’s Army sounds awesome, this is one we all need to keep our eyes firmly on. With its first week of principal photography reaching an end we now have the full list of cast members involved, and it is a worldwide affair.

From the Press Release:

Closing out its first week of principal photography in the ancient village of Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, MPI Media Group and XYZ Films proudly announce the central cast of FRANKENSTEIN’S ARMY, an international gathering with European talent hailing from The UK, Russia, and Czech Republic.

The hotly anticipated action/horror film, set toward the end of World War II, stars Alexander Mercury (The Golden Compass), Joshua Sasse (The Big I Am), Luke Newberry (The Heart of Me), Andrei Zayats (X-Men: First Class), Mark Stevenson (The Last Horror Movie), Hon Ping Tang (The Fifth Element), Cristina Catalina (Eastern Promises), Robert Gwylim (Escape from Sobibor), and Jan De Lukovicz.

An announcement regarding the highly coveted role of Viktor, a charismatic but wildly megalomaniacal scientist whose experiments with the living dead could turn the tide for Hitler’s Nazi forces, is expected from the production next week.

FRANKENSTEIN’S ARMY takes place toward the end of World War II, as Russian soldiers push into eastern Germany and stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Viktor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary Frankenstein’s work to assemble an army of super-soldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades – a desperate Hitler’s last ghastly ploy to escape defeat.

The feature, currently filming in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, is a co-production of MPI/Dark Sky Films, Los Angeles-based XYZ Films, and Pellicola of Amsterdam. Principal photography in Karlovy Vary is overseen by Prague-based Sirena Film. Shooting in and around Prague, the movie marks Dutch director Raaphorst’s debut after his award-winning Worst Case Scenario shorts took the internet by storm and catapulted his visionary alternate history of World War II into the public eye.”

Ridley Scott Reveals More On Prometheus

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Can you believe that it is only a little over three months away until we get our hands on Prometheus? The time has gone by so quickly and as the date looms ever closer my anticipation is almost through the freaking roof! While the film is still relatively in the dark, Ridley Scott recently gave us a little more to chew on, including Guy Pearce’s character.

Courtesy of  Mozinezo.hu via AVP Galaxy we have a brief statement from the man himself, Ridley Scott.

When the first ‘Alien’ movie and ‘Blade Runner’ were made, I thought that in the near future the world will be owned by large companies. This is why we have the Tyrell Corporation in ‘Blade Runner’, and Weyland-Yutani in ‘Alien’. They sent the Nostromo spaceship.

The Prometheus is owned by an entrepreneur called Peter Weyland, and is played by Guy Pearce. That’s the connection between the two films, and nothing more. Prometheus is a new film, a new world, and is full of new ideas. And of course new monsters as well.

Prometheus hits theatres this June 8th.

J.J. Abrams Reveals the Plot and More for Super 8

Monday, February 7th, 2011

J.J. Abrams film Super 8 has pretty much been a close guarded secret, hardly revealing anything with only a little bit of information being released. Well we just had the TV spot which aired during the Super Bowl, that revealed some characters and gave us some idea as to what decade it takes place in.

J.J. Abrams has lifted the lid off and spoke to the L.A. Times about Super 8 and revealing the most we have heard of Super 8 yet, check out the plot details below.

“The Paramount Pictures release is set in Ohio in 1979 and introduces a troupe of six youngsters who are using a Super 8 camera to make their own zombie movie. One fateful night, their project takes them to a lonely stretch of rural railroad tracks and, as the camera rolls, calamity strikes — a truck collides with an oncoming locomotive and a hellacious derailment fills the night with screaming metal and raining fire. Then something emerges from the wreckage, something decidedly inhuman.”

To read the full article head on over to the L.A. Times where Abram talks even more about the movie, including origins and what challenges the film faces.

Super 8 is written & directed by J.J. Abrams  with Steven Spielberg as executive producer, the film stars Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basso, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, and AJ Michalka.

Super 8 hits theatres and IMAX on June 10, 2011.

Patrick Lussier Reveals the Hellraiser Remake Will be Dark!

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Praise the lord or the demons, which ever it is that has summoned this glorious news. A few months ago it was announced that, god forbid, the Hellraiser remake was going to be aimed at a teen audience, think of a sparkly Pinhead. Actually scratch that, Pinhead doesn’t sparkle he freaking causes pain and pleasure and no one does it better.

Now thanks to the guys over at MovieFone, they recently caught up with the director of the remake, Patrick Lussier and he denied these horrible “teen audience” rumors.

Oh, God no. No, no, we definitely did not want to do that. If you’re going to make a ‘Hellraiser’ movie… you’re basically looking at a franchise that went from Clive’s movie up to the ‘Hellraiser’-in-Space movie, ‘Bloodline,’ which had some great stuff in it, actually; the way it goes backwards and forwards in time, and Angelique is such an interesting character.

There’s a part of this world that we’re never allowed to see because there’s never been the resources to show it, so let’s show it.”

To read more on the interview head on over to MovieFone.

The Hellraiser remake is to be directed by Patrick Lussier and written by Todd Farmer, now one thing I am worried about is a possibility that the remake will be in 3D. As almost every project these guys have worked on has been in 3D, lets just hope they skip the third dimension and just take us to another dimension.
