The Collapsed Release Date, Trailer #2

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

Justin McConnell’s post-apocalyptic horror/thriller The Collapsed was recently picked up for distribution in Canada, but, what about the States?

No need to worry my American friends as Dread Central has recently received word that The Collapsed has been picked up by Otter Creek Motion Pictures, and they will distribute the film via DVD and VOD in the States beginning this February 28, 2012.

The film stars John Fantasia, Steve Vieira, Lise Moule, Anna Ross, Vincent Thomas, Stefano Gallo, Neil Green, and Richard Cordeiro.

Synopsis: “In the wake of the end of the world, a family of four desperately tries to survive against insurmountable odds. Their goal: escaping the city and traveling to the rural community they once called home, Dover’s Bend. The constant threat of a violent death forcing them to stay as far away from civilization as possible, they take to the forest, soon to discover the danger posed by other survivors may be the least of their worries.”

Dead Alive Bluray Release Date

Friday, July 15th, 2011

I need a blu-ray player, these titles are just pouring out recently and now we have Peter Jackson’s gore-fest Dead Alive (Braindead). I remember the first time I witnessed this one, I could not stop laughing, it is genius and the gore, oh my, the gore is epic.

According to DVD Active, the title is set to be released this October 4th. I assuming, since the film was released in 1991/2 this will be a 20th Anniversary edition. So far there is no special features or box art, but stay tuned.

Synopsis: “On a quiet street, in a small town, pure evil has come to stay. Lionel, an innocent young man, is forced to care for domineering mother and finds the task a whole lot more demanding after she’s bitten by the cursed Sumatran rat monkey. Passing the point of death, Lionel’s mother sucks friends and family into her gruesome existence among the living dead and Lionel is sent spiraling into a ghoulish nightmare.”

Shark Night 3D Finds Release

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

The race of 3D Shark films is apparently won, the American Shark Night will be beating the Australian Bait to the cinemas.  According to STYD Shark Night 3D (directed by David R. Ellis of Final Destination 2 & 4 and Snakes on a Plane) has been picked up by Relativity Media.  The title will undergo a change, I dunno why; it’s a decent enough title that tells you what you want to know.  Lose the 3D part, but that’s about it.  Shark Night 3D will be hitting theaters on September 2 2011.

‘The Thing’ Prequel – Release Date… Unknown?

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

Well I thought things over at Matthijs van Heijningen Jr’s The Thing prequel  was all great, we recently had a trailer (bootlegged but a trailer none the less) and a confirmed release date of April 29, 2011 and images were surfacing online and I have to admit I was getting quite excited to return Antarctica and witness (hopefully) some gory horror.

Unfortunately due to unexplained circumstances The Thing prequel has been slapped with a “to-be-determined” date by Universal Studios and thus leaving us all in the dark. Maybe they are getting a bit afraid of the competition as Scream 4 is released next April as well.

What ever it could be hopefully some answers will surface soon and we can have a confirmed release date.

Synopsis: Antarctica:
an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an
isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility
becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of
international scientists.
The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned
colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any
living being. It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains
inhuman. In the thriller THE THING, paranoia spreads like an epidemic
among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a
mystery from another planet.

Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth
Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her
lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across
an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism
that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake
up. When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison,
Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from
killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a
parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human
as it tries to survive and flourish.

The Thing prequel is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr and stars
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Joel Edgerton,
Dennis Storhøi, Trond Espen Seim, Jørgen Langhelle, Jonathan Walker,
Eric Christian Olsen, Jo Adrian Haavind, Stig Henrik Hoff, Jan Gunnar
Røise and Kristofer Hivju.

What do you guys think?
