Poster & Trailer For Horror Short House Call

Monday, March 19th, 2012

As horror shorts go, this was actually a fairly gripping tale of lust and revenge and I believe that when this one is finally released on its festival run it will be a top draw. Erik L. Wilson has created a pretty stellar supernatural short with some top FX work on display.

The short comes in at around the 15 minute mark and during that time we are quickly catapulted straight into the action, which is well shot and actually believable. Janice (Aimee Bello) is a victim of domestic abuse and soon she looks for solace in someone else, but first she needs to take care of some unfinished business.

The short plays out with an interesting story and one which kept me engaged throughout. One downside is the small CGI in play, it doesn’t look good when compared to the practical effects on display. My word of advice is, if it doesn’t look right, don’t use it.

In any event, this was a breath of fresh air in the sudden spate of horror remakes and the likes, Wilson managed to create an eerie setting and the cast managed to provide some top not acting to support the story. I was on the edge of my seat nearing the end waiting to see the outcome and it didn’t disappoint, well except I would have liked for a more eerie and crazier old woman. But I like freaky old people.

Here we have your first look as we have scored the poster and the first trailer for the short. House Call is said to be hitting the festival circuit soon, so if you get the chance, hunt this one down.

The short stars  Aimee Bello, Michael Jordan, Janet Gawrys and Brad Egger.

Synopsis: “Janice does the unthinkable in order to start a new life with her new boyfriend. However, strange things begin to happen on the night of their one year anniversary.”

Teaser Poster & More For Astron-6′s Breaking Santa

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Astron-6 are a group of guys we all need to be keeping our eye on, that is if you’re a fan exploitation and bat-s*it crazy filmmaking. These guys gave us what looks to be an instant classic in Father’s Day among a host of many horror shorts, two of which you can view below.

So what’s next for these guys? Well, they are going back to their roots and are working on another horror short with a Christmas theme which is entitled Breaking Santa. The guys over at Fangoria scored the first teaser poster and stills and we have a few for your viewing pleasure.

Astron-6 seem to have somewhat of a tradition with Christmas, instead of spending time celebrating the Holidays, they unleash a Christmas themed short. Their previous shorts are Son of Santa and Revenge of Santa (Check them out below).

What can we expect from Breaking Santa? Adam Brooks of Astron-6 said to Fangoria:

“BREAKING SANTA is just a fun, goofy short, but it’s also a bit insane. I think you’ll dig it. We didn’t worry about any formal stuff with it. It’s like a crazy nightmare; something we didn’t have to take as seriously. Something fun.”

Breaking Santa is currently in post-production and should be released in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Poster & Trailer For Love Bite

Monday, December 12th, 2011

After reading the synopsis, Andy de Emmon’s upcoming comedy werewolf flick Love Bite sounds like a cross between An American Werewolf in London and Cherry Falls, but is that a good thing? Who knows, I’m just glad its not another stinking remake.

Love Bite stars Jessica Szohr, Ed Speleers and Luke Pasqualino. Checkout the trailer below courtesy of Dread Central.

Synopsis: “High school is over and summer has begun in the dead-end seaside town of Rainmouth. While Jamie’s friends seem to be happy working in the local pie factory by day and looking for a shag by night, Jamie is bored out of his mind, running his pot-head mother’s B&B. He’s desperate to get out of there. But when he meets beautiful, smart and sexy American traveler Juliana at a party, he’s smitten – the world is not so small after all.

But soon after Juliana’s arrival, strange things start happening. One of the local teens goes missing at a party. Then, another. Jamie is warned by an enigmatic stranger that a werewolf is in town – and preying solely on virgin flesh! The only way to be safe seems to be to pop your cherry. (But that can’t be true … can it?)

As the locals are picked off one by one, the boys fear that a werewolf is indeed after them. And for all their talk, it turns out none of them has ever had sex before …

Pretty soon, everyone is dying to get laid.”

Resident Evil Retribution Movie Poster

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

Below you can checkout a slick new poster for the upcoming release of Resident Evil Retribution which comes from VietBoom.com

Milla Jovovich reprises her role as Alice in Resident Evil 5 but the really confusing part is how many people are returning from the original film. Michelle Rodriguez who starred in the first one and died a horrible death at the hands of the undead returns. Oded Fehr who died in Resident Evil 4 in bad ass explosive action also returns. As does Colin Salmon who played the leader of the soldiers in the first film.

Is the new film a prequel? More clones? Flashbacks? Who knows. What I do know is we have a cool looking poster below. Check it out! Also be sure to checkout the new Photos we just posted for Resident Evil Retribution

Subject 7 Poster

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Making its way from Icon Entertainment is Andrew Cosby’s vampire tale Subject 7 which follows a group of students who chronicle lives of several stangers, one just happens to be something that isn’t quite human.

So courtesy of AFM we have the poster and the lengthy synopsis which you can check out below, the film is currently in pre-production.

Synopsis: “A group of film school students decide to follow random strangers, discreetly filming them without their knowledge in an effort to piece together their story and create a compelling narrative – literally a picture of modern life in the big city. It’s an ambitious project, and each does their part, working in shifts to maintain surveillance of their various subjects, meticulously keeping track of their habits, their daily routines, following them to work, on weekend excursions, stolen moments, clandestine rendezvous. Fortunately for them, everyone has secrets. The trick is discovering them… and more importantly, getting them on film. But when one of the students mysteriously vanishes, the others suspect that one of their subjects might be responsible. They soon discover their friend had been following someone the others weren’t even aware of… Subject #7.

Subject #7 is not like any of the others, he’s very difficult to follow, and they never see him during the day. Who is he? Where did he come from? How did she find him? Every answer only leads to more questions, and what follows is a suspenseful game of cat a mouse as our intrepid filmmakers concentrate all their efforts on this one person, stalking him, hoping to find some clue as to his true identity and what might have happened to their friend. As more of the students disappear, we soon learn the terrifying truth, that the person they’ve been following isn’t a “person” at all… he’s something more, or less, than human… a vampire… and not at all like the ones you read about in books or see in the movies. This is a creature of pure evil, a malevolent, predatory thing that lives in the shadows, hidden from prying eyes… that is, until now.”
