Overall:

“The Devil Inside” is a lazy, uncreative cash-in on the popular “found footage” gimmick. The plot (and most of the performances for that matter) is all over the place, when it should have just picked one story and stuck with it. Never before has an ending given such a big “we already got your money, so fuck you” to an audience before.

If you weren’t one of the millions of Americans who had the displeasure of sitting through “The Devil Inside” this past week, you’ve most likely heard the intense backlash that’s been associated with it. A lot of times, when a movie garners this much hatred, it’s the result of people just jumping on the bandwagon. But in special cases, such as this one, the infuriation is well deserved.

Told in the seemingly never ending “found footage” gimmick that has taken over our beloved genre the past few years, “The Devil Inside” is nothing more than scenes sloppily cut together featuring a young woman trying to prove that her mother is not criminally insane, but demonically possessed. But instead of focusing on the mother aspect of the story (which is never fully resolved), the movie chooses to jump around between different side plots in an attempt to leave no exorcism movie cliché unturned.

The Devil Inside Takes Us To Exorcism School

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Opening in theatres this Friday, October 6th is William Brent Bell’s The Devil Inside. While I think the film looks pretty badass, I’m worried we have seen everything in all the clips they have released, and we have yet another clip for you guys to check out below. Here’s hoping they have left a lot of scares for the big-screen.

Synopsis: “In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley) confessing that she had brutally killed three people. 20 years later, her daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night. She travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother has been locked away to determine if her mother is mentally ill or demonically possessed.

When she recruits two young exorcists (Simon Quarterman and Evan Helmuth) to cure her mom using unconventional methods combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria. Many have been possessed by one; only one has been possessed by many.”

Two Awesome ‘Rare Exports’ Shorts Inside!

Friday, November 26th, 2010

I was doing some sleuthing around, trying to find something on the awesome upcoming movie Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale, this is where I stumbled upon two shorts on YouTube created by the guys who made the feature film, and they are freaking awesome!

This is such a unique and original idea, and it looks amazing, maybe it’s just me but Rare Exports is the film I’m most looking forward to seeing, bring on December 3, 2010!

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale is written & directed by Jalmari Helander and stars Jorma Tommila, Onni Tommila, Tommi Korpela and Rauno Juvonen.

Synopsis: “It’s the eve of Christmas in northern Finland and an “archeological” dig has just unearthed the real Santa Claus. But this particular Santa isn’t the one you want coming to town. When all the local children begin mysteriously disappearing, young Pietari and his father, Rauno, a reindeer hunter by trade, capture the mythological being and attempt to sell Santa to the misguided leader of the multinational corporation sponsoring the dig.

Santa’s elves, however, will stop at nothing to free their fearless leader from captivity. What ensues is a wildly humorous nightmare – a fantastically bizarre polemic on modern-day morality. RARE EXPORTS: A CHRISTMAS TALE is a re-imagining of the most classic of all childhood fantasies and is a darkly comic gem soon to be required perennial holiday viewing.“

Anyway check out the two shorts below:

Friday, November 19th, 2010

ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest II is now into it’s second week of filming and unfortunately last week Michael Biehn had to leave the film so he could film another production in Tunisia, which is a disappointment but in Biehn’s place we now have Owain Yeoman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Mentalist) who will play Detective King.
