First Look At My Final Destination

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

No, its not actually my final destination, this is in actual fact an upcoming non-profit fan film aptly titled My Final Destination. The film comes via Double-R Productions who have become well known in making fan-films from popular films, and Final Destination is no exception.

As My Final Destination is a non-profit film, it will not be released, but it will be available for free on YouTube later in the year. In the meantime, we have our hands on the teaser poster and teaser trailer, which I must say, looks really good. Check it out and support these guys.

Overall:

Though my expectations were at an all time low, Final Destination 5 delivered everything you’d expect. Creative deaths, a fast pace, and an overall entertaining theater going experience. Its main fault was sticking way too close to the same formula, and switching it up too late in the game, but it was still one helluva fun ride, and far better than it had any right to be.

It’s no secret that the Final Destination franchise hit quite the rough patch two years ago with the fourth outing.  To say it was a disappointment is an understatement.  It was a straight up lazy excuse to add a 3D surcharge to a movie ticket, and came off like no time or care were actually put into it.  Needless to say, I was NOT keen on the announcement that a fifth film had been greenlit (especially with one of the writers behind that bitchass Nightmare on Elm Street remake penning it).  But as the film progressed, it became apparent that the producers heard the outrage over that last film loud and clear, and attempted to save their franchise.  Did they succeed?  For the most part, yes.

Final Destination 5 Reviews

Friday, August 12th, 2011

Final Destination 5 opens in theaters today and I will do my best to go and see it and report in with my review. Because if I don’t do it then who will?

Thats right writers I am calling you out! One of you talented hobo’s must have an interest in being an official critic on the baddest indie horror site on the interweb.

Anyrate Final Destination 5 is finally hitting theatres and the verdict is pretty much what I expected. Film critics seem to hate it and movie fans love it. I have had my fill of Final Destination but even I recognize why they are making these movies. Final Destination is all about pushing the envelope on creative deaths and combining it with 3D for the wow factor. The story, the characters and frankly everything else is pretty secondary to ‘hows the next character gonna eat it in 3d?’

According to Rotten Tomatoes the film has a 58% approval rating with film critics and a 74% approval with general film fans. The question that we want to know though is what do you think? Vote below!

Final Destination 5

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

The second of the “Final Destination” films to be shot in 3-D, Final Destination 5 is being directed by Steve Quale, marking his major feature film directorial debut. Producer Craig Perry (”American Pie”) returns for the fifth time, working with executive producers Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Erik Holmberg, Richard Brener, Walter Hamada and David Neustadter. The screenplay was written by Eric Heisserer, with revisions by Gary Dauberman; Heisserer is no stranger to the horror genre, having penned New Line’s recent hit A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Final Destination 5 brings together an ensemble cast that includes Bell and D’Agosto, along with Miles Fisher (TV’s “Mad Men” and “Gossip Girl”), Arlen Escarpeta (Friday the 13th), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (TV’s “The Bold and the Beautiful”), P.J. Byrne (Dinner for Schmucks) and Ellen Wroe (TV’s “Huge”). Rounding out the rest of the cast are Courtney B. Vance (TV’s “FlashForward,” “ER”), David Koechner (”The Office,” Anchorman) and “Final Destination” franchise icon Tony Todd (Hatchet II).

In this fifth installment, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda.

Collaborating with Steve Quale behind the scenes are director of photography Brian Pearson (Drive Angry 3D, My Bloody Valentine 3D); production designer David Sandefur (Repo Men, Journey to the Center of the Earth); editor Eric Sears (Shooter) and costume designer Jori Woodman (Eight Below).

The film is a production of New Line Cinema and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Roddy Piper to Tackle Demons in ‘Legion: The Final Exorcism’

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

From MTI video comes this little low budget thriller Legion: The Final Exorcism which stars wrestling veteran ‘Rowdy‘ Roddy Piper. The film is said to be based on true events, but while watching the trailer I was scratching my head, why is the possessed girl turning green? Is she turning into a lizard? Also I couldn’t spot Piper in the trailer, maybe it’s just me but I thought that kind of sucks.

Legion: The Final Exorcism is directed by David Heavener and stars David Heavener, Roddy Piper and Ariel Teal Toombs.

Synopsis: “Michael San Chica is an ex-priest. He is also an investigator documenting true events of demonic possession. When Michael comes to the rescue of the newly possessed Tatiana McMurter, daughter of a Baptist minister, he discovers that he has encountered this demon before… A demon he vowed to track down and send back to hell. Because this time it’s not business, it’s personal.”

Legion: The Final Exorcism hits DVD on January 11, 2011, if interested you can pre-order yourself a copy HERE for .49!

What do you guys think?

It looks like the long-running horror franchise is finally coming to an end, as USA Today reports that this will indeed be the last installment. This shouldn’t come as much of a shock to fans since actor Tobin Bell revealed some sequels back that he had only signed on to do up to 7 films.
