Steam Version of Dead Island: Do Not Buy It!

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

If you were anxious to play Dead Island at launch and bought your copy on Steam for the PC than you may have noticed some rather odd problems. It appears that the game that was sent to Steam was a developer build and not the finished version of the game. Thankfully the developer has responded to Kotaku about the situation and promise to patch it:

We deeply regret that an incorrect version of Dead Island was inadvertently made available to players on Steam launch in North America. We are very sorry for any issues you may have experienced while playing the game — the correct, patched version will be made available to North American players ASAP.”

Just to see how whacked out it is check out the video below. It actually looks quite beautiful being able to see the whole island this way:

Dead Hooker In A Trunk Lands In Theatres & VOD

Saturday, July 30th, 2011

I have heard nothing but good things regarding Jen and Sylvia Soska’s indie film, Dead Hooker In A Trunk. I’m no fan of Eli Roth but he has been spreading good word about the film for some time now, so fair play to him.

According to DreadCentral, Dead Hooker In A Trunk will hit limited U.S. and Canadian theatres and VOD simultaneously on August 3rd. For more information check out their official website.

Synopsis: “Dead Hooker in a Trunk, set in beautiful Vancouver, tells the story of four friends who set out on an everyday errand and end up in a fight for their lives when they discover the body of a dead hooker left in their trunk.

Lead by a sexy, impulsive Badass, her distant Geek twin sister, their bible thumping, Jesus-loving Goody Two Shoes friend, and a chaotic, rock star junkie pal, the group has to put aside their differences to dispose of the body before they’re next. Thrown into their own personal purgatory, they face off against persistent police, a sleazy motel manager, chainsaw-wielding triads, and a brutal serial killer. All the while they are followed by a mysterious Cowboy Pimp who wants to claim the corpse for his own.

Will they uncover the truth behind the body and be able to stand up to their demons? Buckle up and get ready for the ride of your life filled with gunfights, extreme violence, blood, guts, gore, and goats.”

Also known as "Braindead" abroad, Peter Jackson’s 1992 zombie gorefest will finally makes its Blu-ray debut on October 4th via Lionsgate Home Entertainment.  Cover art has been posted on the right and can be enlarged for detailed viewing!  As of right now, it is unclear what version of the film will be presented on this edition: the US cut (Jackson’s most preferred cut of the film) or the Extended cut.  No word of what or if any special features will be included.  Please stay tuned for further developments!

Fake Walking Dead Trailer Actually Real?

Monday, July 11th, 2011

You will most likely recall that last week a rather slick teaser trailer for the second season of Walking Dead hit the web and caused quite the buzz. The trailer is below in case you missed it.

Directly after it hit the web however the producer of the show Gale Anne Hurd and Robert Kirkman both took  to twitter to say its a great trailer but its fan made and is not a legitimate trailer. We of course quickly filed it under awesome but fake.

Since posting the trailer however I have had multiple readers comment back to me with comments ranging from ‘its real you moron’ to more diplomatic ‘this isnt fake at all’. The trailer I am told by multiple readers from the UK appeared during the premiere of Falling Skies. The channel it aired on was FX UK which has the exclusive rights to the series.

So it seems this trailer is legit so why are the producer and Kirkman saying its fake?

Trailer for Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

I thought Dead Rising 2 was good, but what I really wanted was Frank West and his trusty camera but I didn’t get that so I felt a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong the game was good it was just that little nit pick for me.

Well if your like me then you will love the fact that in Dead Rising 2: Off the Record it plays out like a re-imagining . This time the Fortune City returns but this time we get to play as Frank West.
