The Munsters Set For a TV Comeback?

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

The Munsters back on TV? Yes Please! According to Entertainment Weekly Bryan Fuller the guy behind Pushing Daisies will be behind this project, they are hoping to put a modern spin on the classic, describing it as Modern Family meets True Blood.

Bryan Fuller has a deal with NBC for just a pilot at the moment, so I guess they just want to see how it goes. Not only that but get this, Guillermo del Toro is reportedly eyeing up a behind-the-scenes role in the project!

I am excited but also really skeptical, as I hated the spin-off show The Munsters Today, it didn’t work for me. That being said this is a remake of the original series with a modern take on it and if it’s true about Guillermo del Toro, then this could be something special.

Either way it’s The Munsters!! Although you can’t beat the original series, which always has a re-run nearly every week in my house. :)

7/10

Director:

Josh Reed

Runtime:

84 minutes

Cast:

Krew Boylan,
Zoe Tuckwell-Smith,
Wil Traval,
Lindsay Farris,
Damien Freeleagus,
Rebekah Foord

Overall:

Primal is a surprisingly entertaining no-brainer horror flick that doesn't try to deliver anything we haven't already seen, but still manages to keep us watching. Aside from the horrendous CGI and rushed editing towards the end, the film is worth a check, especially if you just go in expecting a simple and straight-forward horror entry.

Primal turned out to be a surprisingly entertaining Aussie flick, despite borrowing from several other genre pics.

The movie follows a group of friends as they journey to an unknown jungle location in search of an ancient rock painting that hasn’t been seen in over 100 years. With only old photos to go by, they somehow manage to find their way to the painting, but not before venturing through an ominous old cave, where one of the girls cuts her arm before passing out.

Frozen (2010)

Rating #:

7/10

Director:

Adam Green

Runtime:

93 minutes

Cast:

Emma Bell,
Kevin Zegers,
Shawn Ashmore,
Kane Hodder

Overall:

Frozen is a surprisingly good example of a seemingly simple survival situation made into a harrowing 90-minute story of people going against the odds and attempt to make it out of a dire predicament alive. The film successfully makes the viewer feel as though they're the ones trapped up in the ski lift, adding to the ever-rising tension felt as the movie progresses. Definitely worth a check.

Writer/director Adam Green has made quite a name for himself among the genre in a mere handful of years. Debuting with the gory throwback slasher Hatchet, then the mind-bending thriller Spiral a year later. He has returned once again with the psychological survival pic Frozen, a film that I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from going in. Surprisingly, the movie turned out to be quite a treat, despite the fact that it simply follows three characters and primarily takes place on a ski lift.

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

If you are a fan of British indie horror then you may have heard of Tony, at least the short film version. For those fans of the serial killer sub genre of horror, this will be right up your alley as it depicts a rather loathsome character who is from a part of London that [...]
