Director:

Tom Six

Runtime:

90 minutes

Cast:

Dieter Laser,
Ashley C. Williams,

Ashlynn Yennie,

Akihiro Kitamura,
Andreas Leupold,

Peter Blankenstein

Overall:

The worst thing about The Human Centipede is not it’s “shocking” story line, but more so the fact that there’s not that much going on. Director Tom Six has proven that he can create some effectively creepy, tension filled scenes, and the film is worth a watch for those interested in something more out of the ordinary. Just don’t give in to all the controversy.

Alright, so let’s mention this right off the bat.  Yes, people’s mouths are sewn onto others’ assholes.  And yes, this basically means they function as one digestive tract, causing them to eat each other’s shit.  Um…fucking sick dude.  Those who become faint of heart at the thought of eating their best friend’s shit may be wise to stay far, far away.  Now the one or two of you still interested will find that, despite the vomit inducing storyline, Human Centipede showcases the potential of an up and coming genre filmmaker, as well as being far less revolting than many have made it out to be.

Overall:

Disturbing Behavior is by no means a good movie, giving us a predictable Stepford Wives-esque premise, a lack of blood, a lot of underdeveloped characters and plot-holes, but it's still an enjoyable watch for those late nights you may spend channel surfing, especially for its cheesy and intentionally (or unintentionally?) funny scenes.

Disturbing Behavior is another forgotten 90′s horror pic that unless you caught it in its brief stint at the theaters (like I did) or when it’d occasionally air on TV, you’d likely never heard of it. A product of the mid-to-late 90′s teen horror boom (thanks to the huge success of Scream), Disturbing Behavior opened on the same day as the mammoth Saving Private Ryan, which naturally captured the hearts and minds of movie-goers everywhere, and this flick quickly faded into obscurity (lasting only a couple weeks at the box office). It’s a little sad considering it’s not exactly a bad movie, though it does have a number of flaws.

Guillermo del Toro Signs Vampire Book Deal

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Variety reports Guillermo del Toro has signed a publishing deal with HarperCollins imprint William Morrow to pen a trilogy of vampire thrillers with Chuck Hogan. First book, “The Strain,” hits bookstores next summer. Story will revolve around an invasion of New York City by a vampiric virus. Series will trace the roots of the vampiric race back to its Old Testament origins.

Del Toro is currently readying to direct New Line and MGM’s “The Hobbit,” to which he has committed the next five years. He’s essentially booked through 2017, attached to helm a remake of “Frankenstein,” “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” and “Slaughterhouse-Five” at Universal, as well as “Drood,” based on Dan Simmons’ novel.
